Once Smart Upsell is fully enabled, guests ordering online can place items into their cart, automatically populating other items that previous guests have paired with that item.
All Revup clients have the ability to utilize a static upsell ability by manually selecting the menu items as additional items to show up in the cart during the checkout process.
With Smart Upsell, the system analyzes the customer data based on the set parameters (with adjustable numbers) to find the combinations of items that people have most ordered together. This way, the system will automatically show the right upsells to the right guests.
Data builds up over a few months to understand guests’ buying habits. With Smart Upsell implemented, check sizes increase by 15% on average.
This is the first time in the industry that online ordering technology has utilized artificial intelligence to power personalized food recommendations. Smart Upsell shows accurate food recommendations using data from approximately 2000 orders that guests have placed.

A restaurant can have both the Smart and Static Upsell features enabled in its menu at the same time. However, the system rules out the Smart Upsell item that already exists in the cart, to ensure that upsell items won’t show up twice to the customers.
